Here are my cases:

The pink one is for my MacBook Air.

The black one is for the Gateway Laptop that I barely use.

i was in the same boat as you, and i am VERY picky about EVERYTHING i buy. It drives my g/f crazy!! we searched a bunch of places, and i finally settled on a Timbuk2 laptop messenger bag. I dont know where you live, but REI carries them, as well as a lot of the bike stores. I ordered mine on ebay and won it for $64 plus $12 shipped, while in line with a bag from REI (exact same one for $92)..lol.

also, timbuk2 has a sale on sleeves as well. $12 plus $8 shipped. I might pick one of those up.

I have the tucano skin for my macbook(white) and just a lacoste messenger bag. Although I didn't buy them, booq make some nice products that might be worth looking into as well.

I've had quite a few for my MacBook Pro.

- Timbuk2 medium messenger with a Waterfield Designs sleeve
- STM Cargo
- Timbuk2 Hacker
- Jack Spade Tech Field Bag (current bag, LOVE IT)

The Timbuk2 bags were great, but I needed it to be a bit more stable when I set it on the ground. The STM Cargo was cool, but I ended up not liking the strap or how the pockets were organized. The Hacker is great and I still use it as a backpack fairly regularly. The Jack Spade bag is probably my favorite though. Looks great for work and is really easy to wear, not awkward -- even with heavy loads.

I have that lacoste messenger bag too. I got it off of ebay for a really low price so for about two months I thought it was a fake Lacoste bag (why would it be $35?)

My macbook case is the black with green trimming Incase neoprene case. I couldn't find a picture of it on the website but its similar to the one they have one (which I don't like personally). But I have a picture of it in use!

I use the incase nylon sleeve plus. You can use it as a messenger or sleeve by removing the strap and tucking in the handles.

I have the STM Small Loft (as pictured), and a backpack from Caribee. It's a beautiful backpack, as it holds a great deal, and has every little detail that I want.

I got mine at macy's but unlike the shirts, there doesn't seem any easy way to tell a fake. The lacoste bags and luggage are made by samsonite btw. Every once in a while I do see them at Marshall's for around $40-60 depending on the model.
