Take in and see what they will do at the Apple Store Genius Bar. In the past, they have replaced the battery for me under AppleCare.

From apple site:

Your Apple One Year Limited Warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. If you purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan for your Mac notebook, Apple will replace the notebook battery at no charge if it retains less than 80 percent of its original capacity. If you don't have coverage, you can have the battery replaced for a fee.

So, my mac is 1 year 11 months old, still 1 year to go before apple care expires, battery health is 83% currently,,,when it falls below it, they will replace the battery right?

Thank you.

also, this 80% is from 'battery health' APP
is there a way to check this via mac system itself?

thanks

The age of your Macbook Air is almost 2 years old, the Apple policy (from their website) that was current when you purchased your Macbook was 1000 charge cycles or 80% within a 5 year period.

I have used this policy for the last 5 batteries I have had changed without paying for them, 4 of them were over 2 years old, 3 were Macbook Airs, a 15" MB Pro and a 2010 white unibody Macbook - the battery to this was changed December 2014. It does require some patience with the Apple telephone support staff, one or two tried to argue that the phrase 'up to 5 years' excluded me from claiming but I eventually escalated the matter and common sense prevailed.

This policy was on their website as far back as 2008 (and probably even before that) and it was removed late last year, so if your Mac falls into this timescale, I would never hesitate to have the battery replaced without entertaining any idea of paying for it.

I used Coconut battery but when i took the machines in the staff were uninterested and used their own software, incidentally their tools have a discrepancy of 2-3% compared to Coconut battery (i.e. if Coconut shows at 78%, apple software will show this around 81%), so you may want to let it drop a bit further.

I have attached the battery policy page for your reference.

Regards
