Macbook battery uneven

I just got my new macbook yesterday and it seems like the battery just isn't sitting right. It is further out on the left bottom then on the left top. Also on the right bottom it sinks in further than the top right. Also in the middle on the bottom it goes out a little. Should I be concerned? I am near a store now but I'm usually not. Is there something wrong with the computer or the battery. Thanks for any advice!

I don't want/need a new machine. I have a new machine and otherwise it seems fine (hopefully it will stay that way). I assume if anything they would replace the battery before they would think about replacing the machine.

I doubt this is going to be a problem for you, and it'd probably be near impossible to find a macbook whose battery fits perfectly flush all around. It's just a a side-effect of the tolerances used so all the parts fit together easily during manufacture. If you've ever made the mistake of using cheap OEM-knockoff camera batteries instead of the brand-name ones (where the fakes bind and get stuck in the camera, while the decent ones slide in easily) then you'll know what I mean.

I called Applecare regarding the replacement battery I received per the Powerbook Batt. Recall. It wasn't sitting flush with the machine so they're sending me a new one. Maybe they can do the same with the MBs.

my girlfriend and I bought matching whitebooks back when they came out in May and they both had the same issue. As long as the battery isnt swelling, it isnt a problem.

No battery will ever flit flush like they're supposed to because of the differences in plastic, the fact that it's held into the computer resisiting gravity some situations, and it's weight will pull from the computer. Just deal with it. My iBook is the same way.

It shouldn't affect anything, but this is definitely a cosmetic flaw if you ask me. Sadly, ever since the launch of Apple's new line of Intel Macs, with it came low quality control computers.

Okay well as it isn't really a problem or a sign of some problem I can live with it. If it has to go in for repair I will maybe mention it then but I'm not willing to send anything back yet.

I had a similar problem, I wasn't quite happy with where the battery was. Taking it out (quarter in the lock on the back does the trick) and just putting it back in made some improvement, I'm happy with it now.

My new MBP C2D doesn't sit straight on all 4 corners when i pull the screen up. Yes it drives me nuts, cause i paid 2k for this machine and it's got such a small tiny problem lke that. BUt most likely they won't replace it, so you have to learn to live with it.
