I am a big fan of Apple products - been a loyal consumer since I was a kid using the old Apple II's. However, the quality of these new Macbook's are awful. First one I received had a broken / discolored screen so I exchanged it. Just received #2 this morning and the exterior black paint is chipped (white spots) / bubbling on the hand rest and especially on the exterior lid. You spend a few thousand dollars and get a damaged product not once but twice?? Not acceptable. So upset w/ the whole experience. I am returning this one for a full refund and gonna stick w/ my old Powerbook G4 Ti.

own lemon will stop people from getting a MacBook, yes some MacBook have problems but some don't its there risk

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but IMO you're giving up too easily. Many, many people have flawless macbooks (me, for one) that they got on their first try. You can and will get a perfect one if you keep at it... though I can understand your frustration.
Yea, keeping your Tibook seems like a great idea. Wait for some bugs to be fixed from the macbook and then get a more powerful machine when the next rev comes out. Tibooks are gorgeous anyways.

I have owned many machines and like everyone was concerned about the first generation Macbook. In truth, these are not first generation but rather an evolving chain of computers that will never be the "final" result. I go back to the IIe with Visicalc and started the GUI path with a LISA.
This machine has been wonderful and freed me from having to live in a windoze world because of vertical apps I need for business. Now with Parallels to allow windoze in a window, I can happily enjoy the elegance and ingenuity of the Mac OS again and it feels great. I went the first day, v. 1.0 fears and all and bought my Blackbook and it seems perfect in every way. The engineering is superb and my only complaint is the rather sharp edges on the case.
Having a nice machine already is good justifcation but the overwhelming majority of the machines are first rate and if the need is there, you will very likely be very happy you got this great machine.

If you can wait it is stupid not to.
Obviously some people need a new computer now, but for those that don't, it is not worth it to get a first Rev of a new machine. This is what I have to keep reminding myself as I look at the new notebooks.
Waiting for the better faster processor is not a good reason to wait, unless it is a major shift like to the intel or 64bit if that would be useful for you, because there will always be a faster processor around the corner. That said, waiting for a second or third Rev is just smart consumerism. New machines will undoubtedly have glitches in them (heat issues, new discoloration issues, or other hardware issues that have not been discovered yet) that will most likely be corrected in later versions. Even if Apple agrees to fix all those sort of issues, the hassle is just not worth it. Nobody wants to send their new computer in for manufacturing defects on numerous occasions.
Waiting for the updated OS or faster processor is not a good reason to wait, but it is also an added benefit to getting a later Rev.

You are unlucky. I brought my black macbook, and cant be happier. Its a great machine. Its costed half the price of my TI 867 with combo drive. which i sold for close to what i paid for the macbook.
You have a TI and you complaining about a macbook. That probably one of the worst Apple products for chips and repairs. I had one over 3 years it was sent back 3 times for Logic boards replacement. I saw a survey more then 60% were sent back. So its not just me. I doubt 60% of macbook will have to be sent back within 3 years.
Does anyone have an estimate for when the Rev. B MacBooks will be out? I hope it's July or before.

You know that they just came out mid-may, right? I think the fastest upgrade ever was the rev. C G5 imac to the intel imac, and that was 3 months. You're hoping for 2 months or less on the macbook update?? I think you're going to be *sorely* disappointed...

I feel like you just had horrible luck.... I got my black macbook yesterday, and couldn't be MORE pleased with it. No whining, no excessive heat, no "paint bubbles"...

Ah.... I see (I knew about the mid-may part, though).
I haven't even switched yet, so I'm pretty new to the Apple scene. I haven't been following Mac long enough to see any revisions released. I figured they'd be able to find out what the biggest bugs are and fix them quickly. I guess Steve and I have different views of quickly.
