MacBook C2D Hinge Question

Maybe its me, but the macbook hinge seems to be weakening to me. When open, I can flick it with my finger (like you would a quarter) and it wobbles back in forth for a second or two.

Is this normal?

I saw this happen to mine. I'm not positive if there was damage or not, but mine got so loose that it would just fall all the way back unless I set it to a near-vertical position. I had to send it back, and Apple fixed it.

It is not like it moves from its position or anything. It just wobbles back and comes back to its original position. The hinge itself is capable of holding up the screen in any position.

Yeh, I have that problem with my 1st gen MB. They just replaced the bezel, and it was fixed. Give them a call, and they should sort it out.

The hinge supports the screen in place at any position (even 1cm from being closed), it just wobbles back and forth (about a 1/2") when I flick it or move it with the screen open, then returns to its original position. This is not normal or it gets worse?

Completely depends. If you are lucky enough that they have the parts in stock, they can give you your laptop back in a few hours. If not, they may order it in so you can just go in with it, and have it repaired, or they will want it their while the parts come, and you may be waiting a week.

You can call the applestore up and make an appointment with a genius (you have to make an appointment). I think you can do it online too somehow. You can't just walk in though. I had hinge problems with my C1D blackbook and they had to send it in but I had it back within 3 days.

I think people that responded saying this needs fixing misunderstand, I think this is absolutely normal, it is the same on mine. Unless I'm wrong and need to go in myself?

Err this is normal. I bet if you try going to the Apple Store and telling them this little debacle, they'd prolly laugh at you for being such a nerd in making a fuss on such a small thing. Besides, if that 'wobble' didn't exist, you'd be having a hard time closing the screen and so it doesn't hurt to wait a couple seconds (it's only seconds, good grief) to allow the screen to 'settle' after opening it.
