Macbook C2D new keyboard

I had the old macbook and now have the new macbook C2D.

Does anyone know why the layout of the new Macbook C2D was changed? It looks like the ENTER key and the left SHIFT key have been shorted to accomodate new keys. The TILDE button previously in the upper left corner is now down by the left SHIFT key.In place of the TILDE key is a +- key. And on the right near the ENTER key is a new : key.

There are also some other changes. What the heck is going on? I don't like it. Is there some new keyboard standard?

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the new keyboard with the old keyboard if it is carefully removed?

I have extra iSkin I used to use my iBook & Ti PB. I was able to use it on my new C2D MBP. I think the layout is almost idential if not the exact replica. I looked at my 15" PB and 15" MBP and I don't see the noticeable difference. PB/MBP's keyboard is very nice to type on.

I don't think they've changed the keyboard. The top one is an English US keyboard, and the bottom is an English UK keyboard.

Wow.. so Amazon not only sent me the wrong macbook (i ordered the blackbook 2 ghz 1 gb model and instead they sent me the white macbook 1.83 ghz 512 mb mode) but they also sent me the UK model instead of the US model.

Strange. The box they sent me clearly indicates that it is the black macbook from the U.S. but i got a white one inside. Plus the serial numbers between the box and the macbook match.

new pic you posted is not new. it's for europian keyboard type. esepecially UK, and Germany. when I went to Apple store, I didn't see any difference from old one. it's all the same.
