Hey everyone,

I thought I would just share in my delight today as my MacBook and its accessories came today by FedEx.

I ordered:

*MacBook -White 13.3' display, 2.0 GH, upgraded 1 GB ram, 60 GB HD, with the CD/DVD superdrive.

*IWork '06

*Microsoft Office for Mac ($50 mail-in rebate)

*HP 5940 Printer ($100 mail-in rebate)

*Apple Mighty Mouse

So far I really like everything. The Mac OSX operating system is quite easy to use after a bit of fooling around on it. However, I do have 3 simple questions I'm sure you all can answer for me.

1) on IChat, how can I veiw someone's away message and user profile, like you can on Aim.

2) Would upgrading my hard drive in the near future cause any problems? Would upgrading to an 80 HD be a good idea? Any thoughts would be kind.

3) MSN messenger and Windows Messenger are both installed.
a) I want to uninstall windows messenger. How do I do this? I cannot find the program in any folder!
b) I also cannot find MSN messenger in any folder, like in Applications folder. However, it was found in the Finder. Thoughts?

Thanks everyone!
Nikki

Awesome, congrats on the new MacBook and on switching!

Answers:
1. Hold down control and click on their name, or put two fingers on the trackpad and click. The choose "Get Info." (Or highlight the buddy and choose "Buddies->Get Info")

2. HDD upgrades are fairly easy and should be no problem. If you're gonna do it, go for something even larger then 80GB, IMO.

3. If Spotlight can find it, then hold down command (the key with the Apple on it, beside the space bar) and click on the file in the Spotlight list, it will open up the containing folder. It may be in the MS Office Folder. To uninstall, you can just drag it to the trash. On the other hand, there really isn't any need to get rid of it, unless you are just really pressed for disk space.

Thank you Heb!

I do want to uninstall Windows Messenger because Msn Msg and Win Msg are almost the exact program, so it's stupid to have duplicate programs, ya know?

Sounds to me like you didn't actually install either Messenger app but launched them from the image which is a common beginner mistake. What you want to to is drag the app from the image into your apps folder to install then eject the image. To uninstall you just drag the app from within the apps folder to the trash, that's it.
