Macbook case cracked

Well this isn't really a big deal, more of a little annoyance. The part of my case near the right hand side of my trackpad (where my hands rest) has a crack in it and every time I move my arm there is a a little click. I can proably fix the problem with some glue and everything will be fine.

What would been the best glue to use?

The plastic around the wrist rest is so solid... at least to me.

It is a three inch crack that runs parallel to the edge of the case less than half a cm up. I have no idea how it would have happened.

I would call up apple or take it into an apple store to get it fixed up.

My son just showed me the same crack in the same place on his. i told him to bring it to the Apple store on Tuesday.

Yep, thats the most common place ive seen the cracking. Its a known problem and many macbooks have it. Call apple and let them know its not from neglegence on your part. Others have reported cracking in other areas of the macbook case as well, with no drops or abuse. Its probably a design flaw. Go figure, who would have thought, especially with how perfect all the MBP's are.

My son brought his Macbook to the Apple store and they looked at it. Can you believe they told him, "it looks like the top was not put on properly so it caused pressure and caused the crack, but I am sorry it is not covered under warranty"

What the hell??? I am going to call Apple on the phone and see what the hell that means.

I had the same issue on my recently purchased macbook, phoned apple, they will repair it, but cannot do mail in service here any more, so i had to take it into western computers, but luckily for me they are replacing it for free.

OF COURSE it is covered by warranty. Just tell your son to go to another store or talk to another genius and it will be taken care of. If not, then write to the Better Business Bureau. This is a clear design flaw. The upper case is resting on the very thin edge of the lower case without much support underneath. When pressure is applied both from your hands using the computer and the slamming of the magnet bezel against the weakest area, it cracks. Actually, I've been defending the magnetic design, but this is a problem I hadn't considered.

I would fight to the end to get this fixed under warranty. It IS a design flaw that causes the problem, not user abuse. Can't believe anybody would dare suggest otherwise.
