Macbook CD or C2D

Ok so let me start by saying that I don't have Macbook, would definately like to have one. I am a switching from PC. I am a student and I saw that appleonline store has the MB for as low as $849 and $899. However, my question is it looks like a good deal but its CD not C2D. So should I go for the refurb CD or the new C2D. what are the pros and cons between the two. I have also read a lot a lot of members complaining that they had to return it 4 or even 5 times before they got the best machine. So a lot of complain that I hear from the members is scaring me to make the switch.
Also is it better to buy from the apple online or from the apple store. Is there a difference. Lastly is this a good time to buy or is apple going to come out with something new in January.

Lot of confusion in my mind. Help is needed desparetly.

there aren't many differences to be honest. the c2ds do have dual layer superdrives but i dont use the single layer as it is lol

if money is a concern, the cd would be a better buy in my opinion

The differences in buying in the store rather than online: 1] You get the item in your hands right after you fork over the $$; no waiting periods 2] If you want to upgrade the HD, you can only do it online. You can upgrade the RAM through the store as well as online. 3] Apple Stores will do a basic data transfer from your old comp if you want them to and it's free.

I just got a CD Black Macbook and I LOVE IT. It is AMAZING (said in the voice of the Head-On commercial guy). If you can get it at $899, that is $600-700 less than the C2D version. It's up to you if you think a DL Superdrive, extra 40GB HD and Core 2 Duo processor are worth that $600-700 difference.

I got a refreshed CD MBP. $1000 off list.
couldn't be happier. also, refurbs and refreshes have to be certified, so they tend to have lower odds of being defective than new models. it's so ironic!

get the CD and spend the money you save on cool mac software

about a month after i got my CD macbook the C2Ds came out. I was a little pissed but people were telling me the difference is minimal and for my usage (web browsing,music, porn) it wouldnt really make much of a difference. =)

I really doubt the C2D is slower. Reviews/tests have shown that there's an increase (not as much as Apple has claimed).
