I bought this entry level MacBook in the beginning of September of this year. 2.0 ghz C2D, 120 gig hdd, 1 gig of ram and a combo drive. However, there seems to be a serious issue with the optical drive (combo drive). If I put a blank CD, or any type of CD for that matter, it attempts to read it (I hear it spinning inside the drive), but then ejects randomly. I tried to put in the restore disks just to see if they would stay in, and they did. Does anyone know any possible fixes to this problem?

So, it ejects all CDs, but all DVDs play fine?

...I'm assuming you've tried different brands and types (e.g. music, software) of CDs?

If this is the case, contact AppleCare for repair.

I have just tested it with two DVD movies and they worked fine. (stayed in and played) I have also tested two different types of memorex blank and burnt CDs and a Khypermedia disk. The cds all ejected before they where recognized. I am pretty sure that it is not a software problem becuase it does the same thing in OS X the bootcamp menu and Vista.
