1st quesiton is simple- can I connect my macbook to any external monitor with a VGA or DVI input.

2nd question: I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my MB. If I have the MB in closed lid mode when using with an external display, can I still use the bluetooth keyboard and mouse?

With the adapters you can buy you can hook up either a VGA monitor or a DVI depending on the adapter you buy. I think they are $19 from the apple store.
Don't see why you couldn't use the KB and mouse in close lid mode.

Here and there!
Answer 1.) Depends on the adapter you buy - always go DVI if you have the choice, but both are certainly possible.

2.) Yes, just make sure you set "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" in the Bluetooth Pref pane?

Ok, thanks for the quick replies. I currently have "allow buetooth deviced..." set to allow, so that'sfine. I'll wait until I get the display before I buy the mini DVI to 'whatever' cable.

thanks again for the swift replies

IS there a difference in quality between the VGA and DVI connection?

Yes, DVI is superior.

DVI enables the computer to output a pure digital signal to the monitor, which then displays that digital signal. If you connect via VGA the initial digital signal is converted to analogue and back to digital resulting in a quality loss.

If you have the option on your monitor, always use the DVI input - it results in a much clearer, sharper image. VGA looks fine, good even, but there is a marked difference between it and using DVI.
