Consider me an Apple fan for life now.

In late April I acquired a white Macbook. Since then it has taken so many unfortunate spills and hits, yet it keeps on ticking. Then, last night, my Macbook was sitting open on the kitchen counter when my girlfriend and I came home. We had been out with friends and were quite drunk, drunk to the point that I flung her up on the counter (seeing my Macbook, but too drunk to care) and dropped her down RIGHT on the keyboard, with the front of the screen against her back. We called it the MacChair, it just works. Did I mention we were hammered?

Anyway, woke up this morning, and in the chaos of last night I found my Macbook had crashed down from the counter onto the marble tiles, was still open and was propped up on its side. It was already on, rubbed the trackpad, presto. Screen is fine, keyboard is fine, everything works, no odd sounds, no heat, no problems rebooting, just a few scratches on the outside of the case that I'm not even sure weren't there to begin with (it takes a lot of abuse). Of course there may be some type of problem that reveals itself later on down the road, but the fact it still works after everything is impressive.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this because I thought it was funny considering how nervous I was when I first got my Macbook due to all the posts about how the screens mysteriously crack, how the casing warps, etc etc etc. I know these things aren't Thinkpads (a tank of a laptop if there ever was one), but as much as this Macbook has been through in the last three months, I'd be very hesitant to call this a fragile laptop.

Anyone else have any experiences of their Macs surviving brutal accidents or just plain drunken stupidity?

Wow that is awesome. I guess what Apple says on their website about the durability is true, saffice to say polycarbonite is also used on some suitcases etc.

My mbp would not survive a drop like that at all.

I hope you don't use this machine for your daily work. It might be hard to break but maybe chill out?

durable ?? haha, yor head is durable. you could trip and fall and hit your head on some marble tile, and not die ! but it would leave some sort of effect, like a head ache, scratches, scars.

so dont think just because your laptop hit the deck and its working good, that nothing happened. maybe you cracked some plastic, bent something, anything. and it may bite you in the ass later down the road.

if my MBP hits the deck, Im opening it up and looking for any sign of injury, LOL

What the heck were you thinking?

"It's just a laptop. It's not my entire life. Jager is delicious."

No daily work on it. The Macbook has become nothing more than my email/itunes/chess/movie entertainment unit.
