Hey, all;

First time poster here!

I purchased my MacBook on 06/13/07.

Since day 1, it would completely shut down during normal operation no matter how much juice was left in the battery (power saver is turned off). At times it would freeze up on wireless only. With a CAT5, I can surf all day. All Software Updates have been done.

Now, it refuses to stay powered up unless it's connected to the power adapter (battery shows 100%).

I've done all the usual troubleshooting (resetting the PRAM, firmware upgrade, resetting the SMC, holding down the power button with the bttery removed, etc..).

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

FYI, I'm no Mac newbie (used them over 20 years, currently own 18). I have an appointment at the AS tomorrow...I'm thinking there may be a prob with the MB.

Well, thanks in advance for responding and thought-sharing!

Yeah, I would say that you got a MacBook with a hardware problem. Ask them for a replacement since you are very close to the 14 day return policy.

Actually, I've had it since June 13th, so i don't think they would replace it. I'll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow, though..

actually give it a shot...i got a new Macbook Pro in a situation similar to yours. the keyboard on laptop1 died after 17 days or so i took it in store expecting Apple to send it to wherever they send stuff but the guy there took a look at it and just gave me a new one.

Believe me...I WILL try! I just don't want get stuck with a ProblemBook! I've wiped out ALL info on my HD...just in case!

Well, gang...turns out it was the battery. The battery was 100% fully charged, but not releasing the energy. So, I got it replaced at no cost, of course. When the Apple Genius put my battery in his MacBook, he showed a full battery, also. Oh, well...all's well that end's well! :)
