Just did this on my 2021 13" MBP M1. Dust-Gate design flaw still present. Depending on cleanliness of the operation environment (often eating while using MB is probably the worst). Periodic cleaning is probably warranted.

Note this is quite challenging effort. One misstep will damage the LCD flex and render it useless. So take it to someone more experienced if uncertain.

Thanks for sharing. Thankfully, I don’t eat near my workspace where salt and breadcrumbs present a risk to my MacBook. But sad to hear such tight tolerances are another weak point for these devices.

Its why Louis Rossmann (macbook repair extraordinaire) only recommends A1502s and 2015 was last one and max Monterey macOS. After this is
  • 16-17 flex-gate (fixable by micro-solder repairers)
  • 16-22 dust-gate (cleanable but tedious and potentially repairable by micro-solder repairer)
  • 15-18 butterfly keyboard depending on model (cleanable but fragile)
  • 16-22 flash touchbars (fixable but tedious)
  • some 15" killing its flash contents
Wonder what is lurking on the latest designs haha. I do love these MBs regardless of these issues but do need some repair skills to cost effectively maintain or repair them.
