I am guessing that your problem is that you are using Safari. I despise Safari for these reasons. I would suggest that you download Firefox and give that a go. It is a MUCH better browser. (although I have not tried the new beta version that has been recently released of Safari) You can even download customized skinz for Firefox... I use one called "GrApple (Eos Pro) 3.4" because it looks alot like safari and matches the Mac style.
To answer your 2nd question, to uninstall programs... Obviously look to see if there is an uninstaller. If not, all you need to do is go to your applications folder and drag the app to your trash bin. Sometimes the program installs files into your system files, (think reg edit on a PC). What i do to find those is use spotlight and type in the name of the app or the name of the company that makes the app. This is how you get rid of the stuff that companys use to track how long you have used a demo version of a app or something like that.
