macbook external lcd screen

hi

i am currently using a 14 inch 933mhz ibook
i just bought an external 19 inch LG lcd screen
up to now i had a 17 crt screen attached using the span doctor plugin with no problems
but with the new screen i get freezes when i watch a movie and the text quality on the screen is not as good as it was in the shop
the dispay set on the lg screen is 1280 1024 and on the i book 1024 768

i understand it has to do with the video card of the i book so my question is:
1 is there any thing i can do ?
2 i am considering buying a new intel macbook does it have a better video card ? or maybe a dvi output instead of the vga i am using now ?
will i still need span doctor ? in short will it do the work ?

If you can get the Macbook Pro, then you will be sorted completely when it comes to graphical power for your displays, you shouldnt have any trouble at all then. I reckon the Macbook would probably also do the job as well but not as good as the Pro due to it only having integrated graphics.

If you can stump up the extra bit of cash then Pro is the way to go.

New MacBooks are easy to hook up to external monitors. You can either dual or clone the screen. I was watching movies on my 19" Acer this very afternoon.....when I was supposed to be working mind you!

You can buy an adapter for a relatively small amount of money and you're good to go!

Of course you can also front the extra money and go for a MBP too!

i dont feel i need most of the extra stuff the pro offers and i am doing fine with my i book till now
the only doubt that remains is is the graphics better or worst on the new macbook i read alot in the forums (which made my eyes hurt with this new screen ) and still didnt get the answer
will the integrated graphic card do the work or should i just connect my old crt screen and forget sbout the whole thing for the moment

The resolution on the MacBook is 1280x800. I browse a lot of forums using it as well as using it for word processing. I have no problems at all. I'm able to play things like World of Warcraft and Sims 2 on it with no hassle! WoW sometimes gets a bit laggy, but it's always been that way for me (even on my PC). The only thing is the fan tends to kick in when running these things. So, for a little machine I think it holds enough power. For me the graphics capability of the machine is fine.

I also use the machine for Flash and Photoshop. That's when I tend to move it to the 19" screen, but that's only because I have one. When I'm traveling to and from work using it the small screen is more than adequate, and as you know from your iBook it's a nice size to move about. The MacBook is a little lighter than the old iBook!

I toyed with the idea of a MBP but couldn't justify the extra spending. I've been satisfied with my MacBook from day 1 and I'm sure it will last me a good while. I bought the middle model a while back (2Ghz C2D, 1GB RAM and 70GB HD) but now you get a bit more for your money (2.16GHz C2D, 1GB RAM and 120GB HD).

Whether or not to go ahead and make the purchase is up to you. It's a good time to invest in one in my opinion. Chances of an update coming for it in the near future are small if you ask me.
