MacBook + EyeTV + XBOX 360 = ???

Okay, question...

I know the video card (or lack thereof) in the MacBook is supposed to greatly hamper (or in some instances completely cripple) computer gameplay, but I was just wondering if using an external gaming console might be different?

Is there any chance that hooking-up an XBOX 360 to a MacBook will provide acceptable gameplay? Would the game console act as the video card and the MB a monitor (like a regular tv), or no?

This should work exactly like hooking up the 360 to any TV.

I may be mistaken about this but im not so sure you can actually route an input signal into a mabook pro without ALLOT of lag.
I know people have tried this with the IMac's & Eyetv, but the transfer rate is so slow that it makes in uplayable.

Some of the new eyeTV boxes have a special Video Game input I believe which removes the lag.

Bumping this thread back up...

I see the EyeTV 250 and EyeTV EZ have game modes. Both are SD- 480i. Not sure if it has 480p or not- can S-Video carry 480p? If not, then it's 480i only because the other inputs don't.

The EyeTV 500 supports 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i. It's HD. I can't figure out if it has the game mode or not however.

Does anyone know?

I'm thinking about buying an iMac along with either a new EyeTV 250 or a refurb EyeTV 500 (it's $200 either way, and if I'm buying them straight from El Gato I assume both have the warranty). I'm trying to total up my costs and what I'll be able to do with it.

I intend to use my Nintendo Wii in 480p on it, plus free-to-air HDTV channels. I don't have an HDTV yet, this would be my first foray into the world of HD, but I intend to eventually get a PS3 and I'd like to have the hardware ready.

Also, can you record while playing in Game Mode? I'd love to record video for my gaming site (see sig).
