Ok I have one main concern for the macbook before I buy it. Will this laptop last me 5 years I mean will I be left in the dust with the intergrated graphics. Also will vista run smoothly on a 1.83 ghz 2g ram macbook model? (assuming apple updates bootcamp and all the drivers gets written) I don't do much gaming the last game I played was diablo2 and I am still at cs1 so......What do you guys think?

macbook future proof? vista anyone?

You may get left in the dust...but if you do, pretty much every other computer shipping today will too. The MB actually compares pretty well to other shipping machines. But there's never any guarantee with any machine to be future-proof.
Mac's are versatile creatures; you should expect to run it for years before you notice its age. My computer, a titanium PowerBook G4, is over four-years old. I'd like to get a new Mac, but I just can't justify it because my PowerBook continues to run so wellarguably better than the day I bought it since the new OSTigerruns so efficiently. I use processor heavy applications too, such as those contained in Creative Suite 2, and I can't stress enough how well it runs.

I don't know the dell m1210 has the same specs with a dedicated video card. I know it is ugly to some of you but it sure looks powerful.

Besides what the big deal about having Vista anyway? Leopard will be the benchmark for Vista (that's why M$ can't confirm a January release, they have no idea yet when Apple plan to release Leopard), and it will run far more efficiently than Vista ever will. Your MacBook will endure through several OS's whereas current peecee's will need updating to deal with the hefty farce called Vista.

That a MacBook will endure through several OS's? That's always been the way. I have a friend who owns an original iBook (the coloured clamshell type) for instance and he has Panther installed on it.
That Leopard will be the benchmark for Vista? Well a lot of the "new" features in Vista are what we have had for the past couple of OS's in OS X already.
That peecees will need to be upgraded to accommodate Vista? Take a look over at MS's site the specs for Vista requires that the standard peecee get more ram, a better video card and so on if the user wants to utilise it's full potential.
Unless they start making every software compatible with the OS I will still need windows. Since vista is the next windows I need to be sure the macbook has enough juice and power to run it. I know a lot of you argue that the os is better than windows, but windows is still what most ppl uses. Anyway back to the question did anyone run vista beta on their macbook? How was it was it choppy with all the eye candy or was it smooth?
ok thx...but seriously guys I don't need another person to tell me vista sucks ass or os pwns windows. I need windows to run my existing programs and games. For now I am indifferent toward the os I am getting macbook because I need a laptop and I want to see what the fuzz is all about.
