Add more RAM instead. That will give you more of a performance gain, and it won't hurt battery life like a 7200 RPM harddisk.

A 7200RPM drive doesn't noticably affect battery life. If you look at the
power usage of the 7200RPM drives, you'll see that they are almost
identical to the 5400RPM models.
