Just a quick question im thinking of upgrading my Macbook HDD (early 2006 model) from a 60 gig hdd to something at-least twice that. So my choices are a 120 gig 7200 rpm drive or a 160 gig 5400 rpm drive, my question is will i even notice a performance increase? Enough of a real world difference to sacrifice 40 or so gigs? Just checking around on newegg i can easily find a 160gig 5400 hdd for $89.99 but the 7200rpm drive is like $149.99 so any suggestions?

I think you'll notice it, but how much space do you need? If you're going to be almost completely filling the smaller drive then go for the slower but larger one, as it'll be faster in the long run.
