Macbook HDD

Does anyone know where i can get an 80gb or 100gb HDD for the MB thats "reliable"?

I recommend newegg.com. There's no real difference between what brand hard drive you get nowadays, just make sure they've got a decent warranty (3 to 5 year). Newegg has good prices and a decent return policy if things break.

You'll need a SATA 2.5" hard drive, too, btw.

You need a 2.5" SATA Hard drive but make sure it's 9.5mm thick, there are bigger ones out there that are 12.5mm thick that won't fit in the MacBook.

I just did a quick check, and sorry, no, they only have Parallel ATA drives for laptops, it seems. Again, newegg.com is really probably your best bet, and you can easily browse it. I'll find some quick links for you, gimme a minute.

Seagate, hands down.

I second this advice- Seagate makes very reliable products (at least I have never had a problem with their devices and I have heard many good things about them).


You need a 2.5" SATA HDD as far as I know for the MacBook/MacBook Pro.

thanks alot. one more question, if i use the stock HDD for like a few weeks and then i change HDD how will i be able to get the files from the old to the new?

You can always get an external SATA case for it, I believe macsales.com has them, but they're pricey. The upside is that you can use it as an extra drive later, though. If you're looking to save money, you could just burn your files or whatever to a DVD, and copy them over later.

Do any of these thirdparty HDD use less energy than the stock Macbook ones? Wouldn't mind my battery lasting a little longer as well as having more space.
