It seems like a short in the speaker... Sometimes out of nowhere I hear a hissing sound coming from right near the power button... Whenever I push the plastic down next to the power button the hissing stops, when I stop pushing it hisses again...

Any ideas? Can I open up my MB without voiding the warentee?

Sounds like the right speaker may have a loose connection, in which case you're hearing white noise. What happens if you mute the MB?

And you will void the warranty by opening the MacBook yourself. Don't do it.

I am getting white noise... Same if I'm muted, but it doesn't happen all the time... So if I take it in and they can't hear it, they will tell me to come back later...

Thanks for the warning...

Do you have a camcorder you can record it with, then import the footage into iMovie just in case the 'Book stays silent in the store?

Great tip, I can use my digital camera... my camcorder got stolen on vacation...

Is there a way to simply record the sound with the mic on the powerbook? I think that that might be a better way.
