Besides frame and scan rates, there are two image sizes that qualify as "high definition." One is 720 lines of 1280 pixels each, and the other is 1080 lines of 1920 pixels each. With 800 lines of 1280 pixels, the MacBook will do the former. With 1200 lines of 1920 pixels each, the Apple Cinema HD display on my Mini will do the latter. The MacBook will scale 1080x1920 to 720x1280 to display it and the Mini will scale 720x1280 to 1080x1920 to display it.
