Macbook Internet Acting Funny After 1 Year

I've had my macbook just over a year and its always been great,

The internet (always using airport) has run awesome and very fast.

Just two days ago, it just seemingly started running kind of slow.
Pages seem to hold before loading, the browsers just arent running like they were a week ago.

If I hit home, it will wait for about 4-5 seconds before going, and then subsequently each page will be the same?

Anyone have any ideas on how I can diagnose this?

It's just odd, even after posting this.. it just held for a few seconds before going......

What's your setup? Do you have a wireless router connected to a DSL or cable modem? I'm going to assume you have a router connected to a broadband modem since that's probably the most common configuration.

There's all kinds of possible reasons for slow internet connections. The most common would be an ISP problem (like my AT&T DSL Saturday evening - pages took minutes to load, ping times were fine showing latency wasn't the problem, but I was suffering 50% packet loss. Internally, transferring data to and from other Macs in my network was fine).

Does using an ethernet cable improve anything? If so, then it's likely to be your airport card or wireless router. Try pinging your router when connected wirelessly. Check for latency (response time) and packet loss. You can do this from Terminal or (I think it's called) Network Utilities. I do all this kind of stuff from the command line because of my unix and linux experience, so I'm not sure of the GUI app.

If you're seeing high latency or packet loss while pinging your router, narrow it down further by trying a different router or a different computer.

If pinging your router is fine, or wired connection is as slow as wireless, then it's probably not your Mac. Try connecting directly to your DSL/cable modem. If that's ok, then try another router and buy a new one if it's ok then. If it's still slow, contact your ISP.

I should have mentioned all that.

Its weird.
Cause I use the laptop two places

My Office & My Home

And the issue is happening at both places, which leads me to believe its my computer?
But I dont really know..

havent tried it wired yet.
That would be a good test to see if its the airport card - silly me

What about Internet Caches and History Lists? Do you clean them up regularly?

I find it helpful to do those two in order to retain speediness.
