Macbook: Is it possible to install an internal DVD burner where the CD burner is?

Possible, yes. Practical, no.
It costs more to buy the SuperDrive itself rather than taking the upgrade and getting 120GB hard drive, 2.16ghz cpu and the super drive. It would for sure void AppleCare as well. On top of that, it would be very difficult to install and you would run the severe risk of screwing some internal parts up.

although you can get apple to replace it for a fee
