Hi there

I'm having an issue with my Macbook CD 2.0.

Sometimes, when my Macbook's sleeping (lid closed), I move it (for instance, it's on the table and I take it to my bedroom) and it will wake up, without opening the lid or doing anything weird.

Why is this happening? It can be tricky, so I'd like to solve this issue. Let's imagine that I slip it into its neoprene sleeve, and put it in my backpack. If it wakes up... Neoprene isn't exactly known to allow a good cooling, and I can end up with a fried Macbook.

One thing I've thought, is that the motion sensor detects movement, and somehow, wakes the system up...

It's the first gen white macbook at 2Ghz and with a 120Gb and 2Gb of RAM I installed myself...

By the way... is there any way to buy spare hard drives trays? I'd like to be able to swap hard drives without having to use the same tray.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for my English

Have you installed anything (e.g. VirtueDesktops, or smackbook) that uses your motion sensor? :)

I'm afraid not.

I was going to do a fresh install anyway... do you think it can possibly solve the problem?

Is someone else (MB or MBP) having the same issue?

Thanks

Got a bluetooth mouse or anything connected by USB that you unplug when moving?

I noticed that my wireless Mighty Mouse sometimes wakes my Mac if it is clicked (i.e. when I'm travelling with my Mac in my bag and forget to put my Mighty Mouse on standby).

I do have a Bluetooth keyboard, but it has happened with and without BT enabled, and not only at home.

I've have this happen to me all the time. Partly due to the BT mouse, but lately I've been turning it off before I put it to sleep and sometimes it still does it. I think it might have something to do with the power cord maybe? I'll put the MB to sleep then unplug, wait a couple secs, wakes baack up, then I put it back to sleep. I'm not sure if it's the pwer thing though.

There is a thread on this someplace...don't have time now to find it, but was nothing wrong if I remember right. If I get time later I will search for it.

Your "English" is better than many that live here in the USA  so no worries!

Thanks. Actually, I learned English watching Friends, with the internet, and have only been in the US twice, for a few hours, at the L.A airport :D
My french-spanish accent is outrageous, though.

I've tried to do a search on the forum, but haven't found anything.

In my case, the "random wake up" or RWU :D happens both with and without the charger involved...

Do you have any wireless mouse receiver plugged in while it is asleep or is it plugged into the Internet hard wired into ethernet or any other device plugged in?

People with the macbook pro have had misaligned reed switches. It doesn't seem to fit your exact symptoms though. If it were the reed switch, I would think that it wouldn't want to go to sleep at all. Still, Just an idea.

No wireless mousse. I use a usb tablet, or, on the go, the trackpad. It hasn't happened yet with the tablet... But of course, I always unplug all the usb devices before closing the lid... I know that when you plug/unplug somthing, it wakes up. That was a good point I forgot to mention in the OP, but it's not the solution.
