Macbook Issues and Repair Costs?

I've had my black Macbook for 11 months now (according to coconut battery) and it works perfectly fine. Geekbench scored it at 2668, I think that's good?

I just have a few issues:

-I burnt our my headphone jack a month or 2 after getting the Macbook while writing music with my old band (I was using a midi controller with garage band and using an adaptor to run the sound out through the headphone jack into an amp. I now know that this is stupid). How much would it cost to get fixed? It's pain mixing anything cause I have to hook up our Firepod and use the headphone jack to listen through that with headphones.

Which brings me to the next issue:

-My Macbook no longer recognizes my Firepod. The light turns red, then flickers blue for a sec, then stays red. I've powered down the Macbook and tried again, but nothing changes. Is there any possibility that the firewire plug burnt out or became faulty? I downloaded the driver from the Presonus website, but when I try to run it, it just says "No Device" even when the Firepod is plugged in and running.

-Lastly, my battery cover is slightly recessed. Is this normal? It just freaks me out when I touch it cause it feels like my Macbook is breaking.

I just want to know if there are ways to fix these things myself and/or how much it would cost to get some of these issues repaired. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

IMO Buy Apple Care QUICK and let Apple fix your existing issues and enjoy the next 2 years with your blackbook or attempt to repair yourself and be sorry you didn't should another issue occur 2 months from now when Applecare will not be an option.

i bought AppleCare when I bought the Macbook 11 months ago, I kinda forgot about that haha. Is it still covered?

I hope I can find that paper work or whatever came with the AppleCare...did you have to install something?

AppleCare extends the warranty to 3 years.

No, you don't need to install anything, but you do need to register Applecare. Just buying the Applecare package isn't enough. You need to register your MB's serial number.

Hopefully, you did that. If you bought it through apple, it might have come pre-registered.

Your best bet is to plug in your serial number at apple.com to see what the warranty status is of your Mac.

No you shouldn't need to. If you bought it online, with a credit card, they have proof of purchase there. You can go back through all the purchases you have made in the past X amount of time on Apple's site, so they obviously store that info somewhere. Simply take the BlackBook to an Apple Store, explain the issues, perhaps avoiding taking blame for it, and they will be able to get it fixed.

I bought my macbook from someone on the forums. It did not come with applecare, just the complimentary care. However, when I received the notebook I was able to transfer ownership of the computer over to my name, and also purchase apple care....all without a receipt - just the name of the original buyer. Since then, I have sent in my macbook for repairs done caused by original buyer...haha so think about that. You do not need a receipt, since you are in the apple care system that is linked to the serial number of your product.

if I am not totally mistaken you should have received a certificate stating that you are protected by apple care (I got mine via email).
as far as I know that should be enough and you should be registered at apple so if you ask them to send you a copy of the certificate they surely would.

As long as you registered your MB's serial number with Apple, you will not need to provide any receipts to the Geniuses at the Apple store. Based on what you said, it seems that you are registered.

Just head over to your Apple store, and let them know that you have AppleCare, and explain your problem with the MB. They will be able to look up the AppleCare info in their own systems.
