Looks like you are a victim of the infamous "random shutdown" issue. Probably a logic board problem, take it to Apple. Is your MacBook a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo?

i had this problem just now. lemme describe my 'random shutdown'. everything freezes, and a box comes out in the middle, with a shutdown button in the background. "you need to restart your computuer. hold down the power button for several seocnds....." is this what u call the random shutdown syndrome, cuz it had not technically shut down yet.
i have a c2dmacbook. came with 10.4.8. now 10.4.9
