since yesterday, the backspace, space bar and caps lock keys on my macbook keyboard have stopped working, rest of the keyboard works fine (no light on caps lock key either) ..

i flushed the PRAM, VRAM, re-installed the OS X (clean install) but no good ..

then someone said i might have a 'stuck' key, so used keyViewer app but all keys are fine ..

i just bought my macbook on 24th dec 2006, so i can still return it for a full refund, so should i go ahead and return it or can you guys save me a 20 mile road trip? (first time apple user, 6 days in and already having a headache hehe .. but mac certainly is the best thing ever!)

antoher thing . .do i need to make a reservation with a 'genius' before i set out or can i just drop in and see someone who can help me out?

(birmingham, UK)

thanks

hmmmm interesting i think contacting applecare or visiting the genius bar is your best bet.
im not sure if this is a universal rule, but when you go to Apple stores (in NYC) you have to like take a number and wait to be called to the Genius Bar, you cant just walk up to it.

made an appointment and met up with a genius at birmingham, by today, 5 other keys on my keyboard had stopped working, and surprisingly, the genius never even checked the keys! he never even asked me any question, just quickly got rid of my old notebook, asked if i wanted to transfer any data (no) went in, and gave me a new boxed macbook!! (got another set of charger and apple remote free)

almost as if he was avoiding, how and why questions .. so i am just curious, have we got another known/recurring/hush hush problem with macbooks? anyone else got broken keyboards out there?
