this morning, while i was in the library, i discovered that my new, refurb, macbook 2.0GHz Core Duo headphone jack wasn't working. i learned this the hard way because i couldn't hear a lick but everybody else in the library could...

anyways, after being thoroughly embarrassed, i took the macbook to a technician and he's going to replace the logic board on wednesday or thursday. well, when i got home, my macbook decided that it no longer wanted to start up anymore. and if it did start up, it would kernel panic after a couple seconds.

i'm just curious, but how much damage could this do to the rest of the macbook and will replacing the logic board actually solve the entire problem?

as a side note, every time i pull my macbook out of the neoprene sleeve, it shocks me. could this be a problem (other than the physical pain, which i guess i can live with)?

another side note... i read something about people pulling headphones in and out quickly resulting in kernel panics. i really don't understand how pulling headphones out can cause kernel panics and wouldn't mind an explanation.

i'd appreciate any answers the community can provide.

well, i woke up this morning and turned on my macbook. it worked. headphone jack is still borked, but i managed to e-mail myself some vital documents. i always get confused when things mysteriously fix themselves while i sleep.
