Hi

I am curious to find out about a proposed purchase from Amazon.

I saw the M2 Macbook 13.6 inch for sale. It was only through browsing Q and A's, that I noticed that this particular seller/ item had no magsafe connector.
But was charged through one of the 2 existing usb c ports.

Another seller/item was complete with magsafe charging port. Albeit, this item was £60.00 more in price.

Is it possible that Apple produced this new model in two versions. One with magsafe and one without?

Thank you

Apple currently offers the MacBook Air M2 with Magsafe, and the Macbook Pro 13 M2 without magsafe.

Would you mind providing the link for the "M2 MacBook" without the Magsafe port? Then we can take a look at what's actually being sold.

Hi

It looks like my mistake. When I was thinking of buying this, I searched for M2 macbook air.

I have just noticed that this advert is for macbook m2 Pro.

Please see images attached.

That is an easy mistake to make if you aren’t careful. The M2 MBA and the M2 MBP have a lot of similarities and the prices are pretty close depending on what kind of deals a seller is offering right now.

Performance wise they are very similar. The MBP has a fan that will let it get slightly more performance on very intense operations like video editing or gaming. That might matter if you do those things all the time. The MBA can do them but may slow down slightly at the high end. The MBA is thinner and a little lighter. The MBA should be the same performance for most operations most of the time. The MBP is the older design and has a touchbar. That may or may not appeal to you. The MBA has the new design and the screen is slightly larger. Many people appreciate the fanless aspect of the Air’s design as it is always quiet. Both are much faster and less prone to overheating than the older models.

Be aware that the SSD in the 128GB model only has one chip. The 512GB SSD has two. That results in slower file access in the 128GB. If you are coming form an older Intel model, it may not seem any slower but comparing like to like, there is some difference. It may or may not matter to you.

Either one will be a fantastic computer for you.

Many thanks. I have the MBA 256 gb ssd which i finally chose, and it is just a joy compared to my imac, that sadly lost its ability to function after many years.

256 gb is ample for my needs, as I only use about 75gbs on my old imac. And future proofing will not matter at my age🤣

Regards

That should be a good match then. The SSD speed is only slower compared to the other size option and should be significantly faster than your iMac.

The speed of the MBA compared to the imac is like moving from a bicycle to a Ferrari🤣

Well not quite, but you get my drift.
