Im probably going to be getting one of these (MB/MBP) and I've always wondered...where do you guys usually store the remote when you're on the go/when it's not in use?

Am I the only one that actually uses my remote?!

Anyway, I keep mine either on my window sill (sp?!) or, strangely, in my pocket.

It is too small to do anything. I rather have a bigger one, or at least one that is more useful (think: can advance powerpoint slides).

As it is, it is just a piece of easy to break piece of plastic with very very very limited software support. For instance I can use frontrow to play a DVD in my drive, but suppose I don't want to waste my precious region changes and deregion my DVD first into an ISO image, and then mount it manually, it wouldn't play at all.

Mind you, DVD Player does play from the mounted DVD image if started manually, why wouldn't Frontrow?

It's beyond useless.

it just seems silly and not useful to have a remote for a laptop unless you've got it hooked up to some sort of media center setup. personally, i would much have rathered they'd kept shipping the monitor adapters and made the remote something you purchase if you'll have a need for it (but, i suppose they'd make less money because surely more people have a need for a mini-dvi to dvi/vga adapter than a front row remote..?)

There is a program called iRed Lite that gives the remote more functionality, including the ability to advance through PowerPoint slides (I think some minor scripting is required though) but I've yet to use the program myself.

if that program gets developed a little more to be easier understood and interacted with by end users (those without scripting knowledge, i mean), it's going to be VERY popular, i'd think.

i don't use my remote or FR at all because it's all media-based (and with a laptop sitting in front of me, i can select a new song or press stop without a remote.. ), but if I could incorporate some more practical uses...? that would be awesome.

With my cellular modular ogular device, DS lite, DS lite game holdy thingy that is worth mentioning because it is the coolest, wallet, iPod, etc.

I have a little pocket in my Targus bag that almost seems made for it. It has a mesh front so I can see if it's in there or not. Works perfect!

Lost mine the first week I got it.

I never really used the remote, to be honest. I find it to be a bit of a gimick.

I use mine every night while relaxing in my recliner sipping on 101. Easy way to access my music collection and zone out after a long day of work.

Mine is always near my computer like right next to it, next to my bathroom sink where I can change the song as I'm getting ready or in my pocket. I also have a cell phone holder on my labtop bag and it goes in there for long trips.

I find it VERY usefull. I use it for music, picture slideshows. iAlertU, Itunes, watching movie previews, watching shows on my mac fullscreen w/ front row as well as movies. turn up and down the volume... its very usefull :)

i dont use it much, but its great for iTunes while writing up an essay, and for the wow factor for people who havent ever used or seen a Mac.
