Hello everyone,

For the first time I now have a Macbook with dedicated media keys again after many years with touchbars I never cared for. Before that the media keys always controlled iTunes playback, but with my new Macbook running the latest Monterey (cannot upgrade yet to Ventura as not everything is compatible) it will instead control some other random app like VLC or IINA that's in the background, or sometimes a video in a browser tab that's not even in the foreground.

First I thought it controls whatever media I have played last, but that is not the case. Currently it pauses and plays a youtube video in a Chrome browser tab, despite having played other media in other apps in the meantime.

It's especially jarring when I have the iTunes/Music app open and in focus, there is a track paused right in front of me and when I press the play button on the keyboard it instead goes back to that tab in Chrome that is not active at all. That doesn't make any sense, why would I want to continue playback on a video that isn't visible to me...

How can I restore predictable behaviour, as in always control iTunes/Music? I found no way of reassigning the top row keys either, as there is now a useless microphone button and a focus button that I could use for something else, but MacOS doesn't seem to have an option for it.

Thanks!
