Macbook Mini or Macbook Pro Mini

so we know theres going to be an ultra portable laptop coming soon, however which do you think it will be?

Ive hard people calling it an ultra portable macbook pro but i just dont see how this would be possible, the macbook pro already runs very hot, in its current case and a smaller one would be worse...

Second, being smaller it would have to lose a lot of its "pro" features, like the full size DVI port, most likly the firewire 800, express card, and so on, i know apple is working on collapsable ports, but i just dont see this being an option on a supposedly "pro" machine

so i think a macbook mini seems much more likly

We do know this? Since when? I've never seen proof!
For now, it's all speculation.

If they do come out with something, I think it's more in line
for the MB than the pro. It's hard to not have DVI, FW800 and
a DVD burner.

If anything Apple won't create something called the MB/P Mini, it isn't too attractive sounding, they'd just use MBP. Once again, if anything it'll be a MBP because that's what they've done in the past, and if they can fit the MoBo in a small space, they wouldn't have to drop a lot, but express card would be gone. A dual-link mini DVI would be cool, as would a full DVI, but I can't see any of that. It'd be cool if it ever comes out, and I'd buy it, I won't say never on this release.

The Macbook seem to be already the "ultra portable" mac.

Current one runs hot because of its specs - Apple wouldn't put such a powerful CPU in a 12" laptop. They'd most likely use an ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) CPU to provide a much better battery life.

It is still a Pro machine, because a home user doesn't need something that small and portable with such a huge battery life; people on the go, like photographers or business men need something like that.

They'd most likely use a mini-DVI connector, and also FW800. They don't need the CD drive though, that could be an accessory (USB powered CD drive), and the space saved from that would allow an Express Card slot.

Someone using such a small portable laptop would be a pro - Sony offers 10" laptops with ULV. Performance isn't great, but the screen is very high res, and the battery life can be up to 8 hours.

kilamite generally i agree with everything you say my friend, but i have to disagree with you on this one, i see apples pro hardware as high end, high performance hardware, which just cant be accomplished with a ultra portable, it most likely will not have the capability to run the studio apps which to be called pro it should be able to do if its called a pro machine.
