I think it may have something to do with the 10.4.10 update, but I can't be sure... When I put a cd in my macbook, it spins up, nothing happens, and then it spits it out.

Also, when I start up, a message pops up about the cd/dvd drive saying there are no updates for this device, and I have to click OK whenever I start the machine. I'm guessing the two are related, but I'm at kind of a loss for this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm a relatively new mac user!!!

Thanks so much,
Nick

Remove the superdrive firmware updater from your Utilities folder to hopefully stop the message at startup. What type of CDs have you tried? Did CDs ever work in the drive? :)

Didn't know that was in the utilities folder... thanks for that.

Yeah, cd's have been working for a long while now. I've been using Sony's for the most part, but I haven't tried another brand since it stopped working. I'll try that...

have you tried a different cd?

Have you rebooted?

Have you run all your security updates? Firmware updates?
