I have a first generation Macbook and sometimes I've noticed that when I close it and open it hours later the battery has died which is leading me to think it's not sleeping when I close the lid. Anyone else experiencing this?

try checking smc configuration using terminal pmset -g and look for appending to sleep. Have found sometimes added (await for address book sync or aspn) have been added for not apparent reason. Have to reset smc as per apple instruction and now it will sleep properly
