I'm going buying a MacBook on Saturday! WHOOO! From the Trafford Centre Store in Manchester.

Will I get a good laptop, i.e. after week 36 and thus problem free?

It will be the stock 1.83GHz one so I'll be hoping to take it home on Saturday too.

How much will it be with student discount?

Cheers for any help!:D

Hi Malcolm,
the price with your student discount is: £548.00 with vat added £643.90

Also you are eligible to buy applecare for £58.00 instead of £199.00 - a good idea if you sell the laptop 1 year later to get the best return on your investment.

The above prices were quoted to me by Apple Education online.
I just purchased the White 2 Ghz Macbook with super drive for £773.00!

Also, you can get a printer for less than nothing at the same time, and a 2GB Nano for £9 after rebate. You get a £60 rebate on a printer, and you can choose the HP 5950, which costs less than £60. Win-win. :)

i am looking at doing this but how do you send the only UPC label with both rebate forms?

I think your best bet is going to be to give the Apple store your going to a ring tomorrow. Also, before you go on Saturday, it would be a good idea to phone before you go in to check they have MacBooks in stock, and if so, to save you one.

For now, it will only be the stock one....how will I find it? i.e. only 512MB RAM but 64MB of that for video.

How will it be?

You can ask them for one yourself, they won't bite you, believe me :D

That price is just for the base MacBook. I just explained that I was only in college and that my friend (from same college) had recieved discount on his MBP, so I asked for the price. And she told me that! Whoo!

Haha. I've had it sat on my lap for the last hour, updating/messing around etc. Yea it's warm but I definately wouldn't say it was too hot to use on the lap :) I'll keep him away from the manhood area though ;)

I've had mine on my lap too for the last hour or so, I agree it's warm but barely "too hot to use" as some people claim.

Good thinking with the manhood area :p

I guess it's safe to say that all of the MacBooks being bought now are problem free? No major things going wrong with hardware or anything?

My MacBook (stock 1.83GHz upgraded HD to 80GB) was ordered at the beginning of this week and is due to be delivered around the 18th Oct, is it safe to stop worrying about defects now?

Does anyone know what date a week 38 is, is that the 38th of 2006?

It seems no on has gotten a MB or MBP later than week 38.
