If that is indeed your question, do you have any external USB devices attached?
The power management settings in Windows are not very reliable. I find that even on my Dell I need to occasionally turn off and reset some of the power management settings i.e. set things to not turn off hit apply, then go back in and set it to your liking...tm21 said:The screen wont turn off niether set to 5min turn off or the screen saver dont come up after 5 min! What to do???

Luck. My experience with power management on Windows PCs has been dismal, but it's not entirely Microsoft's fault. Predominantly it has to do with the drivers for various pieces of hardware not being equipped for power management. Some drivers will keep the PC awake and others won't come back from sleep OK.tm21 said:I had a reliable managment on my old Dell xps m140.......

When running XP Pro from the XP partition on my MacBook the screensaver does not come on, at all, no matter how short I set the wait period to be. I also noticed that there are unknown drivers in the Device Manager. My first reaction was to rerun the BootCamp Drivers disc, but that didn't help. They seem to be both in "unknown" and in "USB" (by necessity I'm vague - I can't bring up the the XP partition to see Device Manager as I'm on the Mac part right now.)
It doesn't look like quackslikeaduck has anything for this(?)
The screensaver works just fine on the Mac part.
I do have a mouse plugged into one of the USB ports.
1. Does anyone have a solution to the screensaver problem?
2. Did everone else get all their drivers installed correctly, and if so, how?

UPDATE: Now that I've looked the problem devices are under
a) Human Interface Devices, one of seven (7!!!) with the same name - how do I tell which it is? - called USB Human Interface Device and
b) other devices
There are three of them: PCI Device, Unknown device, and Unknown device. (How original! If the System doesn't know, how am I supposed to know...)
It says right there to reinstall the driver so I thought I'd try again. Nope.

Hmmm... I have a MacBook (Ultimate, not Pro.) I downloaded and installed the utility anyway but now I can't find anything to put in the startup folder. Where the h--- do I look for it? Thanks for helping!ilkevinli said:The program I linked to i the above post will make the screen saver work. Just make sure you put a short cut in the startup folder so it loads everytime the computer boots.
Yes! Only, selecting the wrong one sure creates a mess. I lost wireless connectivity and the internal network was all messed up. The first instance in this case was the mouse, not the trackpad. (Why disabling the USB mouse should interfere with the network is beyond me.)Natsus said:...select one of them (it's usually the first one) and then disable the driver. When you created the shortcut, were you able to get beyond "mouse" and actually get to the hardware portion of the mouse control (and if so, how?) or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
In any case, I now have the screensaver and with it, I hope, some semblance of monitor power control. Time will tell. Thank you.

Natsus said:Sorry I'm a little confused. Disabling the wrong one does not lose wireless connectivity... I've done that before, and my internet is fine =\ Maybe something else is wrong.... yeah I'm sitting here scratching my head on that one. I'm really not sure what happened.
Here's what I found to select the right one. If you have your USB mouse plugged in before you boot up, the trackpad drivers will be the 2nd one. If you plug your USB mouse after you're in windows, then the trackpad drivers will be the 1st one. Sorry if I confused you =P
My shortcut was just the mouse program. Sometimes later I'll write a program that'll disable the trackpad just by a click of a button or maybe even a keyboard shortcut. Infact, I'll look into that now.
OK. Thanks. I guess what was required was a restart before I could find it. I haven't given the machine a chance to go on screensaver since I put the utility shortcut in startup, but disabling the trackpad (post by Natsus) worked.ilkevinli said:Its in the folder that was created when you installed the program. If you used the default settings during the install, it showuld be in the Quackslikeaduck folder. If you still can't find it, let me know and ill tell you the exact file name.

Ostensibly, it's for remapping keys for use on my MBP, but it did so much more than that.
