I have a problem with my MacBook Air M1. It stopped charging when it's on and doesn't even see the charger connected. But when it's off, it's charging slowly (~50% overnight) and the device makes a sound when plugged in. The problem started when my adapter died while charging. One of the ports also stopped working (the one that was connected to the adapter when the charger died). System report/Coconut Battery always shows charger is not even connected.

I ran diagnostics. Errors: PPP001, PPP020, PPT012 (i can't find description for this one).

What else I tried:
- Various chargers, cables. For example, 30W, 65W bricks and 20W power bank.
- System update and factory reset
- Safe mode, recovery
- Completely replaced the USB connectors
- The local service center ran a quick diagnostic and said that the power controller ("charger chip") probably died

Unfortunately, nothing helped. I also noticed that the Mac still accepts a charge when it's on, but extremely slowly, which makes it unsuitable for work as it is discharging faster than receives energy. If anyone can suggest anything else, I will be grateful.

Backup your data immediately. Sounds like a new motherboard is in your future.

Probably better off selling now while it is working as parts/need repair and buying used MBA M1/2. These are so cheap on used market.

Thanks for the reply. This is of course the worst case scenario, but I am also inclined to think that the motherboard is broken due to hardware. I will try to contact a local service center, maybe they can replace the broken component inexpensively without changing the board completely. If it works out, I will write here. Otherwise will likely look for a new device.
