i like the MB because of the price + portability. i had a 15" PB before it and that thing was a pain to carry around to classes and whatnot.wowowowanimac!! said:

Well, it really depends on what your going to use it for. If your not going to do anything too graphics intensive (PhotoShop, 3D Animation, Games, etc) then the MacBook is perfect for you. Otherwise, I strongly reccomend the MacBook Pro.

yeah, i definitely agree that it's a matter of preference. i wasn't trying to say that the MB looked better than the MBP as a fact, just stating my preference.viccles said:
I've finally come to the point where I can afford both. I would pick a macbook because I like bargains more, don't find the video card useful, and would feel less guilty if it fell than the macbook pro. Plus the macbook just looks so nice to me compared to the ibooks. I want one.
I have the MBP but am also considering buying the Mac Pro. I bought the MBP as my high end machine. I would consider selling the MBP and downgrading to the MB and taking the downgrade $$$ to go towards the purchase of the MP. That said, I really like the MBP and even though I dont "need" the power of the MBP on the road [my MBP currently almost never travels] I don't think that I will
get rid of it. I'm not a gamer so I really dont "need" the MBP, it does however run very well with Aperture and that is one of the main reason that I bought the MBP.

Me personally MBP just based of features. I do think the MB is a better looking machine though.
Now if Apple were to make a Black Annodized Aluminum MBP it would be the sexiest computer ever!

I had a choice between a MB and a MBP and I thought the MBP was much sexier than the MB. Just personal preference I guess
Hey if I had it my way I'd have both! But I thought the MBP just might last me a little longer and I want to use it as my main computer so I needed the little extra size for the screen. MBs are still way cool especially the black. Came very close to buying that!
This sort of thing always bothers me a bit intellectually. Photoshop is one of those big applications that, if we're honest, does little more than go through incremental updates every few years. So a true comparison if Rosetta weren't part of the equation would probably be "only buy a MacBook if you want last year's MacBook Pro performance for Photoshop". Are you trying to tell me that last year the technology wasn't in place for digital manipulation of images? Even three or four years ago professionals were using Photoshop completely happily under OS X - is a MacBook slower than the Macs of three or four years ago?
Of course Rosetta does make a big difference in reality, but Photoshop is a bad example in any case - Photoshop is CPU limited and the difference in graphics cards between the two machines doesn't make a lot of odds. The main thing that professionals would worry about is screen real estate, but I can't see a serious professional routinely using the built in screen of a laptop anyway, as they like gigantic 30" monster screens.
You are going to lose on stuff with realtime 3d graphics, as I understand it the integrated graphics in the MacBook are more or less competitive with the Radeon 9x00 in the old iBook while supporting more features. The Intel chip can do everything that will be needed for Quartz 2d Extreme so that difference shouldn't make much odds in terms of the OS.
My understanding then is that a same speed CPU MacBook should be about the same as a MacBook Pro for applications like Photoshop, Office, Safari, Mail, Final Cut, iLife and InDesign but will probably lag for games, Maya, etc.
To declare my intentions: though I have the cash for an MBP I'm going to grab an MB probably in the middle of next month. If they've been upgraded before then, it'll be a nice bonus.
I played with an MB at the main Regent Street store here in London and was suitably impressed. The one downside for me is that I found it surprisingly heavy. I just expected it to be lighter somehow.

Now, my case is having some problems, but the MacBook cases apparently have a lot more. I do like the look of the MacBook for the most part, but I think the outside of the MacBook looks a lot nicer than the inside.
Oh, and the MacBook speakers are HORRIBLE, don't forget that!
