I need something to tie me over for a year until the 2nd rev of the new intel powermacs come out. I was looking at the low end model of the MacBook. Basically I need it to run InDesign, Illustrator CS2 and Fireworks 8 fairly smoothly. I run them all on a iMac G5 1.8Ghz (Rev A) at the moment and I am happy with their performance. So I am looking for something on par with that. Will the MacBook do this or not? I know non of those apps are universal.

Should work well, you don't require a dedicated graphics card with 2D apps, so the MacBook should be on the same level as MacBook Pro.

Look up some speed benchmarks for the MacBook Pro, and the results will be the same.

Obviously try and get as much RAM as you can afford as this will help very much.

When Adobe goes Universal, the apps will run even faster.

Good luck with everything, please come back and tell us what you got.

Rich.

update?

I need to buy a desktop mac for the office that will run indesign cs 2. I'd like to avoid the bulk and expense of a PM G5 and go with a mac mini, but I'd like some feedback on how it runs with Rosetta on the intel macs.
Starnox or anybody out there: any updates on how well it works?
Thanks.
