I have a new MacBook! My boyfriend bought it months ago, but it just sat on his desk, unloved and almost never used. So I gave him enough money to buy a Mac Mini, and I got the MacBook.

I love it so much. But, since half of my college has a MacBook, I want to find some way to personalize it! I was thinking of getting a skin or keyboard protector. I'd love to change the color of the apple logo, but I don't know if I could without voiding the warranty.

How have y'all personalized your MacBooks? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

stick stickers on it, write on the outside in whiteboard marker pens (don't worry it comes off). Replace all the keys with black keys ? Get some colored semi-transparent vinyl, cut out an Apple shape, and stick it over the apple logo, and hey presto its a different color. If you cut the shape just right, you shouldn't notice it at all!

EDIT; I haven't done any of this stuff (apart from the whiteboard marker), and i don't take responsibility for permanent damage!

If you take the cover off the lid of your macbook, flip it and stick some translucent material over the apple shape, put it back together and you have a new Apple logo colour :D

Very simple but very effective and there's not too much risk of causing major damage, it seems pretty simple.

Note: Just found this link, I really like the retro Apple!

This would NOT be easy on a Macbook. Getting to the display housing on a Macbook involves taking apart a majority of the computer, and is very difficult to get back together correctly.

The computer in the picture is an iBook, in which case it is very easy.

Top lid skins are pretty popular, or you could get hard shells, though they might scratch if you get grit stuck under them.

Stickers is a good option since they're cheap, removable and changeable to your tastes and you can always print you own like so:

What do y'all think about MacStyles? Does anyone already have one of their skins on their MacBook? I was thinking about getting "Elegant" in either Cherry Red or Gentian Blue as a MacStyle and a plain white MacPad.

I would never put stickers on my computer, though I know quite a few people who do that kind of thing. There are snap on cases you can put on, and you can get them in a variety of colors. Customizes your macbook while also protecting it. I saw someone with a pink one on their white macbook the other day. I would never want a pink macbook but I guess it worked for her.

Would That Void Warranty?

:apple:Would putting this type of sticker on your computer void the warranty? Thanks in advance!:apple:

I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt that a sticker would void your warranty. Unless the sticker cracks your lcd cover somehow..

you can even check their FAQ section...addresses your question.

Can you link to the FAQ section? I assume you are talking about Apple's website directly?!

the macstyles actually look really nice based on the pictures. well, i went for a black turntable one for my macbook with a black full macpad...the pictures of the blackbook with the camera on the lcd cover sold me...
