The plastic part near the LCD (near the "macbook logo") is starting to seperate from the LCD. Is this normal?

No, a computer casing falling apart is not normal (and don't let them tell you it is). Take it to an Apple store and ask them to fix/replace the plastic.

hmm... I just saw that mine is as well - actually have to use my fingernail, but i has separated.... is this a huge issue? I don't want to lose my computer for weeks just for a tiny fix :(

This happened to my iBook, which my step-father now has. At the bottom of the framing on the LCD. The plastic is not making full-contact against the bottom part of where the screen would be.

Poor illustration from a side view:

And Me!!

I also had this problem, but i got it replaced.
I was told that the case is held on by clips at the top, but that particular section relies on double sided sticky tape!

Eww sticky tape? No wonder I see that part a bit flimsy. Dang these Apple engineers don't know crap about what happens to adhesive when heat is applied. I just notice mines but it's not 'falling' apart. It's a bit loose when I push on it.

They just re-replaced the frame (it had already been replaced when the keyboard was replaced for discolouration
