It has been happening for 2 months or so.
I though it was a heat related problem. I changed the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Heat seems to make the crashes more frequent but it happens when it is cold, too.
I tried to reinstall the OS. Now it runs a lot cooler but it still freeze every now and then.
A MemTest reported once a RAM problem but I was not able to reproduce it.
The Apple Hardware test also report a problem with the ram once but then not anymore.
I wonder if there is a way to make more frequent the memory refresh cycle ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_refresh ) with a NVRAM setting or something.
Maybe a way to mark a region of the ram as bad so the Mac OS X does not use it.
Or do you have any other suggestions that can help (beside getting a new laptop)?
