Hey guys, I just purchased the recently released 13 inch macbook pro today. When I installed Windows 7 via boot camp and installed the apple drivers using the installation disc, everything works perfect except that there is no aero. I tried running some diagnostics but says my drivers do not support aero. Which is weird because my other 13 inch unibody macbook worked perfectly. I tried installing the nvidia 9400m drivers from windows update and that enabled the aero effects, but then I lose the brightness controls on F1/F2. Anyone know a solution? Thanks a lot!

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit by the way. Any help would be great!

Go into the device manager and make sure the drivers for the video card were installed. I had the same problem as you and it was because the video card drivers didn't get installed. It showed as "standard Display Adapter". After installing the drivers manually Areo worked.

Sometimes I have seen (in Vista at least) that Aero is not enabled by default. You can set the them to Aero in the Personalize section, although I am not on a Vista machine at the moment to give exact location :(

I figured out the problem. I just had to go to the official Nvidia site to download windows 7 64-bit drivers for the 9400m gpu. I have aero now which is great, but I'm not sure if this was present before, but I can't seem to turn off the back-lit keyboard lights off. I can adjust the brightness but I cannot turn it completely off. Maybe that's normal.

BTW, if you just run the Performance Index in control panel after installing the Boot Camp drivers, it will enable Aero for you.

How's your audio volume in Boot Camp?

Do the function keys for audio control work for you?

They can't turn completly off unless you are in a bright environment. Otherwise they just get "stuck" at the lowest setting.

I had similar issues with windows 7, although it was on my pc and not my mac. the update for the gpu didn't install correctly and caused problems until I went and manually installed the update from nvidia's website

If you have missing drivers I'd suggest looking at Apple downloads and see if they have any drivers available.
