I have an old MacBook Pro 13" 2013 Retina pro that I would like to get working. It has developed vertical lines on the screen (see pic). It is fine plugged into an external monitor, which makes me think it is a screen problem, rather than a logic board problem. I have had a look about inside and can't see any loose cables, etc. I haven't dropped it or cracked the screen as far as I can tell.

Any help greatly appreciated!

that is the cable ssd connector, they always go bad on our MacBook pros from that era,
I have replaced mine already and recommend Beetstech for reliable and affordable parts.

thanks for the reply! Interesting - out of interest, why does the SSD connector affect the display output? I should also mention this is the late 2013 retina model

oops, saw the model photo and answered too quick one of those days....

The display cable is loose or fault since everything seems to work fine.
there is a trick were you can carefully tilt/press the screen with you thumbs to see if the display cable is at fault since the external monitor seems to work well. these could be videos on line for this technique.
you can also open up the MBP and see if anything else is loose.

again sorry for the fast advice that does not pertain to your model.

No problem! The connectors all seem fine, so maybe it is the wire itself? In that case, I assume I need a replacement display?
