Hello,

So i've had this computer since late 2012 and its a Macbook Pro Retina (13") and with Mavericks on it i've never had any problems, never had it freeze up on me.

Since installing Yosemite (on the day it came out) I have since had the computer freeze solid 4 times.

It's not whilst doing anything intensive, just basic features. I had safari and mail open, was reading an article, stopped to read a bit when I next went to scroll I could not and had to forcefully reboot.

Any ideas / any experiencing the same problems?

Regret upgrading.

I did a clean install when I upgraded, I'm tempted to do it again but can't see how it'd help.

Can't stand unreliability, just knowing it's going to do it again.

Having the same exact problem. Same version MacBook - late 2012 Retina 13.

Was going to do a clean install last night, but did not get to it. But if it is no better, I guess I won't do that.

At least if several people have the problem, it should get fixed in the first update? (crossed fingers)

Our macs really aren't that old? (2 years - or are they?).

I had it happen repeatedly on my Mid '12 rMBP 15" (Initially after installing PB1). It turned out to be a hardware problem. I could reproduce it in Mountain Lion.

Great (not really) to see so many people with the same problem. Hopefully they'll address it in the first update (crazy if they don't).

Could still be about a month until the first update is it out...

For those having this problem, how many are using Safari Extensions....and which ones?

I am using 10 million safari extensions with various names - and yes I did a scientific study and I found that safari extensions cause your whole mac to freeze....hopefully my study gets published in a journal soon...

some people say its because yosemite is crap..i say no way its those safari extensions, run a bit less than 10 million your system should be smooth

Different Yosmite issues with late 2012

I cloned another drive with Mavericks, then upgraded. Most of the control panel panes won't work. Especially iCloud and iCloud email account. Did the same process 3 times with the the exact same process. Have decided to wait until the 1st update to try it again. Just wish there was some feedback from Apple on these problems, which I am sure they are aware of.

Seems absurd to me. The reason I went with Apple a few years ago was the reliability, I understand its the first release and you always get bugs, but it seems like they've had a lot of problems recently and it's just a pain when you use the computer for work, etc.

I just hope the first update is out soon (which I doubt will be within the next couple of weeks).

Just had an interesting screenshot that may be related (didn't want to open a new thread)

With only a couple of apps running my machine (with 8gb ram) sometimes idles with 20-25mb of ram free and some noticeable UI lag.

Reverting to Mavericks today (too unstable to use for work when coupled in with the fact that every so often i have to disconnect and reconnect wifi - I understand its the first release but still..).
