Hello,

I currently have a 2013 Macbook Pro 13 '' with an i5 processor and 8GB of RAM.
I recently upgraded the SSD to 1Tb (the one with 512Gb was already with SMART error) and soon I will change also the batteries.

But as I work with a big monitor and I always have a lot of windows open ... I feel that, time to time, it drags something, perhaps due to lack of RAM ...

So I'm thinking of buying a used Macbook Pro 13 '' with an i7, 16GB of RAM and 1Tb of disk.

I currently have two options:
- One of 2015 for € 1150
- One of 2017 (touch bar) for 1600 €

Is it worth the difference?

I've been told that if I later have a problem with the SSD, I won't be able to change it in the 2017 by myself ... and I will have to go to an Apple technical support service ...

Thank you
Duarte S.

why you dont pick 15" 2015 mid, i think 15 is better, they have quad core.
does 2017 model have same spesification with 2015???
i think ya, values for money still better 2015.
the difference from performance factor is not really "high" for 450 bucket.

Thanks!

But in the end I decided to purchase a new one.

Now, I need to decide between the new 2020 Macbook Pros with these 3 options:
- MBP 10th Gen i5 quad-core 2,0Ghz; 16Gb RAM LPDDR4X a 3733 MHz, 1TB - 2481,40€
- MBP 8th Gen i7 quad-core 1,7Ghz; 16Gb Ram LPDDR3 2133 MHz; 1Tb - 2531,40€
- MBP 8th Gen i5 quad-core 1,4Ghz; 16Gb RAM LPDDR3 2133 MHz, 1TB - 2156,40€

I know that the new 10th Gen MBP, aside new gen processors, have 2 fans instead of one, but I want to spend the least amount possible that garanties a fast machine to my kinf od work:
- Use of external monitor with size 34'' that do 3440 x 1440;
- Generally I have lots of windows open at the same time (Firefox with many tabs open, Excel, Powerpoint, Zoom,Skype....).
- Some of the files, essentially the Powerpoint ones, are heavy with more than 400 Mb....and Excel ones with more than 15Mb;
-So essentially office productivity applications. Time to time I need to do some video, but nothing to much (shorting a video...). And to edit picture I merely use Photoshop. Also time to time I need to use Indesign to deal with file with more than 100 pages.

To do all this till now I'm using a late 2013 MBP, i5 2,6Ghz dual core, with 8Gb 1600 Mhz DDR3....but is start struggling or is not fast enough....and even if I close all the applications, time to time, need to be rebooted to be quick again...

So, what you think, what is your suggestion?

Thanks!

of course 10th gen processor will be better.
if you're much working with document, tab browser and running multi task, higher ram is better. at least you need 16GB from your statement.

if size is doesnt matter, maybe you can try 16" at store or try to compare 16 vs 13 2020.
