I've been struggling with the amount of bass coming from my 14" MacBook Pro. Anything off axis makes the treble difficult to hear and the sound in general muddied. When listening to podcasts or spoken audio it is very challenging for me compared to my M2 MBA. Is there an equalizer type software that can control the bass frequency? I saw one called Audio Hijack by Rogue Amoeba that is not yet working on MacOS 13 so I have not been able to try it.

Hey, I just got the 14" and had the exact same issue. The treble is terrible at lower than 70% volume. I found an app on the app store called SpeakerAmp and it's free and works great. I found the "Piano" preset to sound pretty good. Also you want to turn the "3D reverb" off by dragging the slider to the left. I was about to return the computer because of this. If you get a chance, how much better are the speakers on the 14" pro (after you mess around with the EQ) than your M2 air? I'm still considering taking this 14" back and just getting the M2.

This app worked pretty well. Takes some work to get it weeded properly. I would say this app let you equal the MBA sound with some work and gives the flexibility to adjust as needed.
