I’m a but confused, apple advertises the macbook pro 14” (and 16”) as having up to 1600 nits if brightness (which are for hdr content, which I get) but they also say that it has 1000 nits of sustained brightness, is that also for hdr content? I keep seeing mentions of the laptop maxing at 500 nits in regular use, what’s up with that?

In a video someone showed that the MBP will exceed the 500 nits if there is direct sunlight and thus triggering the sensor in the MBP. So you can not manually exceed those 500 bits but it will get brighter if your environment is bright. I have to wait for my 14 inch so I cannot confirm it.
